Virgin Group Chairman and billionaire Sir Richard Branson has pledged all of the profits from his airline and rail businesses for the next 10 years, or roughly $3 Billion to combat Global Warming. This comes just one day after the Bush Administration pledged the same amount to climate technology research and development. It’s definitely disappointing when our administration is single-handedly matched by an outstanding citizen. However, this is absolutely a step in the right direction. So, much thanks and admiration goes out today to Richard Branson, who’s working for the common good.

ExxonMobil has refused to fund a group which denies the existance of Global Warming related climate change. Exxon gave the group over $250,000 last year, and hasn’t commented on its motives for discontinuing that practice. However, this could be the first for the oil giant towards acknowledging the existance and consequences of Global Warming, and perhaps cleaning up its act. To read more, please click here.

According to recent scientific reports, the amount of perennial sea ice decreased by 14% between 2004 and 2005. Perennial ice is supposed to stay stable year-round, and decrease by less than 2% per decade. This is yet another sign that our planet is undergoing drastic changes in climate, due to Global Warming. Research done in the United States, Germany, and Switzerland shows that the sun has remained virtually constant in the amount of energy output over the last 10 decades, varying only 0.07% every 11 years due to sun spots. This is the latest evidence that the tremendous increase in temperature that we’ve experienced since the Industrial Revolution is due to human influence. Who’d have thought Global Warming was caused by us?
