Until recently, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and George Bush were working together to pretty much ignore the fact that greenhouse gas emissions from power plants and other large businesses contribute to global warming. President Bush refused to place any mandatory greenhouse gas regulations on United States businesses for fear of harming our economy. The EPA in turn, claimed that they therefore had no authority to regulate fossil fuel emissions from cars and factories. However, by passing the Clean Air Act, the Supreme Court has ruled that Carbon Dioxide is an air pollutant, and that the EPA therefore has the authority to regulate its emission.
